This orange tankini arrives with its tags still attached, which is the garment's way of declaring that it has never yet been tested by sunshine, chlorine, or the scrutiny of a crowded poolside. The ruffles at the shoulder do the work of a well-judged introduction, softening the neckline and drawing the eye upward without any appearance of effort, while the tropical print supplies the sort of cheerfulness that feels earned rather than imposed.
Made of polyester and spandex, it is cut for the woman who wishes to be comfortable and well regarded in equal measure, and who sees no reason to sacrifice one for the other. Its colour will suit a person who intends to be noticed at the beach, though she will doubtless claim that it simply caught her fancy.
