These jeans keep their secret until the light moves. Indoors they are merely dark, a brown so deep it nearly passes for black, but let a lamp swing past or a doorway fill with late sun and the metallic animal print wakes along the leg, gold flickering through the pattern like something glimpsed in tall grass at dusk.
The mid rise skinny cut is cotton with a little spandex for give, so the fit follows you without clutching, and the condition is like new, the gold unworn at its edges and the denim still sure of itself. They seem to know they were made for the hour after dinner, when plans are still undecided and everyone is a little more interesting than they were at noon. Wear them there, and let the evening do the rest.
