The pool deck was a slab of hot concrete and bad intentions, and this two-piece Kanu Surf bikini in coral and blue walked onto it like it had a warrant for the whole afternoon. The flounce does the real work: a ruffle that snaps and swirls and kicks up a small private weather system every time its wearer cannonballs, sprints, or sulks, and I have the strong suspicion it would start a parade if left unsupervised.
It comes new with tags, a girls' Alania style cut from polyester and spandex, the sort of stretchy blend that rides out chlorine and sibling warfare without complaint. Blue and red run through the coral, loud enough to spot from the far end of the lifeguard's whistle. Buy it before summer starts making its own plans.
