These Orvis hiking pants have come out of hiding with their tags still attached, which means they have never met a switchback, a burr patch, or a noon sun with a grudge, and I would pay good money to watch the introductions. Picture the ridge gone white at midday, the sky leaning on your shoulders like a bill collector, and then picture a pair of nylon and spandex legs rated UPF 50 that simply refuse to answer the door.
The spandex gives the knees license to climb, crouch, and scramble without a negotiation, so the fabric keeps moving like it has somewhere better to be. These are womens pants, new with tags, and they are waiting in the dark like a getaway car with the engine off. Somebody should take them up a mountain.
