This tankini has never met the water, and you can feel its anticipation, a blue so bright it seems to have been steeped in a long afternoon at the shore. The blouson top falls loose and easy from the bust, the way a curtain moves when someone leaves a window open, while the two-piece cut keeps everything light enough for walking out onto the sand without a second thought.
The turquoise floral bottoms are where the whole scheme blooms, small gardens of color that look like they were painted on the last warm hour before dusk. It arrives new with its tags still attached, polyester and spandex made to stretch with every dive and stroll, and it waits, a little vain and entirely hopeful, for the first summer that will finally wear it.
